* Potential life saving/emergency surgery over the cost of £2500

What is ‘syndication’?

In simple terms, syndication means sharing the cost and pleasure of owning a racehorse between a groups of people. In Apollo’s case this is a maximum of 10 shareholders in one racehorse

I don’t know anything about horseracing, is this service for me?

We welcome novices and experts alike with the aim to make owning a racehorse simple and enjoyable for all. We will keep you regularly updated, and if you are new to the world of horse racing we will present information and updates in terminology that is easy to understand. We will also be available to take your calls and messages to arrange visits to see your horse.

How much will a share cost?

The cost of a share will depend on the value of the horse. You can purchase from a minimum of 10% share up to a maximum 50% share per horse.  100% ownership options are available through Apollo upon request.

How many shares can I buy?

You may buy shares starting from as little as 10% up to a maximum of 50% per horse. The larger your share in ownership the larger portion of the prize money and resale money you will be entitled to.

How can I pay for my share in the racehorse and the monthly fees thereafter?

Apollo prefer to offer a one off payment option which covers all fees including purchase of horse and all fees covering an 18 month period. Payment can be made by Bank transfer or card payment including MasterCard, Visa credit cards or any debit card. Please note Credit Card payments are subject to a surcharge of 2.5%.

Share ownership can be paid monthly but will include a 5% admin charge. Monthly fees can either be paid by Direct Debit or Standing Order to be paid 1st monthly.

Do I have to pay training costs?

All fees are included in the one-off initial payment.

Can I go racing as an Owner?

Yes, absolutely. Your share entitles you to receive an owners badge* and go racing as an owner. If we have spare badges you are free to bring family and friends.

An owners badge gives you the opportunity to meet the trainer and jockey in the parade ring.

What colours/silks will your horse be running in?

Your horse will run in our eye-catching Apollo colours of yellow with grey striped sleeves and white cap.

Will I get racing tips and information?

As a shareholder, you will receive information regarding your racehorse and therefore its chances of winning. However, Apollo does not provide a tipping service, we provide information on the well-being of your horse and the reasoning why it has entered in the race it has been declared for.

Will my horse win a race?

There are absolutely no guarantees that the racehorse you own will win a race. However, with Michael’s knowledge and expertise, we will be aiming to place your horse in races that will present the greatest opportunities for them to win.

Will I receive a share of my horse’s prize money?

Yes, all prize money is divided equally between the owners, exactly in line with the percentage of the horse you own. The prize money is allocated after associated trainer & jockey fees* have been paid. You will receive any prize money you are entitled to at the end of the term in a lump sum.

*Owners receive 75% of the prize money. The remaining 25% is split between the trainer 10%, the jockey 10%, and 5% to stable staff and racing charities.

I want to involve family and friends; how can I do this?

As an owner you are guaranteed 1 badge for each you own 10% owned. Additional tickets may be available if free or can be purchased  on raceday. Each shareholder can be accompanied by up to three other people to stable visits. Family and friends are also welcome to own a horse with Apollo so they too can share in the fun.

How do I find out when my horse is running?

You will receive email/whatsapp updates from Apollo every time your horse has been entered to run and when it has been declared.

Which racetrack will my horse run at?

Our trainer is responsible for planning each horseracing calendar. Their expertise and knowledge of each track will decide where your horse will run and how often. It is common practice for most horses to run their races within a reasonable distance of where they are trained.

How many times will your horse run?

We cannot guarantee the number of times the horse will run during the syndicate’s ownership,
as this is the nature of racehorse ownership. However we would expect all of our horses to run multiple times throughout the season. This is usually anything between 3 and 10 races. Shareholders should be aware that some horses will require summer or winter breaks leading to a number of weeks off the track at a time.

What happens if my horse gets injured?

Unfortunately, the reality of horse racing is that your horse may incur an injury at some stage. For minor injuries, you will need to remain patient whilst the horse recovers. We will keep all Shareholders advised up to date with your horse’s recovery progress.

In the unfortunate situation that your horse sustains a season ending injury we will take advice from the trainer how on how best to proceed. At this point we will consult with you and the other shareholders to discuss the best course of action.

Whilst your horse is injured you are more than welcome to visit the horse at the stable. Here you’ll have the opportunity to talk to us in person about seeking a replacement horse.

What happens if my horse is sold during the ownership of the horse?

Depending on the amount of money that the horse has been sold for, you will receive a percentage of that sale based on the percentage of shares you had in the horse.

*All racing and sales plans will be decided by the syndicate managers; Daniel and Michael.

Can I contact other owners?

At Apollo, we want to bring people together with similar interests and enthusiasm for horse racing. You will get the chance to meet your horse’s other owners at the races and stable visits. Often owners form lasting relationships bonded by their common love of horses and horseracing.

Can I contact my trainer?

Of course you can. Both Michael and Dan welcome direct calls on a daily basis if required.
You can arrange stable visits through them or arrange to meet the trainer. If you prefer you can raise a Q&A via email. All your questions or requests will be answered personally.

Are you approved to provide this service?

At Apollo we strictly adhere to the rules set by Weatherbys and the British Horseracing Board
on co-ownership.
